Meta launches Muse, a personal AI agent that acts on your behalf

Meta introduced Muse, a personal AI agent built to complete real tasks rather than just answer questions: booking travel, filling out forms, managing schedules, and sending emails by connecting to the apps people already use. It launched September 8 in the US through a dedicated app, WhatsApp, and muse.ai for users 18 and older. The base tier is free, with Power ($20/month) and Maximum ($100/month) plans for heavier use. Muse runs tasks inside a Secure VM with its own browser, and Meta says conversations and VM data are kept separate from its ad systems. The launch is a direct test of how much everyday authority, over passwords, payments, and inboxes, people are willing to hand an AI agent.

Mistral closes Europe's largest tech equity round

Mistral raised €3 billion in a Series D at a post-money valuation above €21 billion, led by Samsung Electronics with EQT's Scaleup Europe Fund and PSG Equity as co-leads, and new backers including Advent, BlackRock-managed funds, and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The company is calling it the largest equity round ever closed by a European tech company. The funding will go toward frontier research, compute for training, and international expansion, a sharp jump from the €1.7 billion Series C Mistral raised almost exactly a year earlier.

US agencies accuse six Chinese labs of large-scale model distillation
